About Me

My journey into IT began quite a long time ago.  I'm not going to go into any specific dates, but if you can remember School House Rock, then you probably know about when my infatuation with computers began.  My first computer was a Commodore 64.  (See below)

I can remember buying tech magazines that had BASIC code for programable games.  What's BASIC?  BASIC stands for Beginners All-purpose Symbolic Instruction Code and was what you used on the Commodore 64.  Below is a little sample of what a BASIC program would look like, but it got a lot more complicated than that.  During my senior year of high school, I took a computer science class and the final project was to write a math program that would give the user a choice of what type of match problem they wanted and 3 difficulty levels for each match problem.  These included addition, subtraction, multiplication & division.  At then end, it gave the user it's score report and if he/she passed or failed.  That was a fun project.

From there, I graduated to a x286, with a 9600 baud modem and began to explore BBS's (Bulletin Board Systems)  Before the inception of the internet, were BBSs.  You could use your modem to dial in and chat with others, download files & play text-based games.

am currently a network engineer for an enterprise company based in Dallas. I currently hold CCNA and CCNP certifications and have been in the IT field for almost 10 years. My goal is to complete the CCIE certification by February 2012. Over the past 10 years, I have contributed to many areas of IT. I started as a help desk technician and gradually progressed to network administration. During that time, I was able get a firm understanding of how network administration is done. From there I worked my way to network engineering. This is where I get the real satisfaction of my career.
